Fort Gaspareaux, later Fort Monckton, was part of France and England’s early battles for the New World. The British ultimately burned down the fort, but the ditches remain and a cairn was built to recognize the historical significance of the area.

The nine graves of British soldiers who died in 1756 are thought to make up the oldest military cemetery in Canada.

The lighthouse seen in this image and VR replaced an earlier lighthouse that had burned down. This one was dismantled in 2016.
