Port Royal was the first documented permanent European settlement in Canada, located in the relative safety of the Bay of Fundy. Today it exists as a historical site that was rebuilt using original plans, honouring the first Acadians who made this land home. Staff dress in clothes of the time, engage in tasks that would have occupied the settlers and offer an intimate look at what life was like in the early 1600s. Old history is tied with more recent times, as guides talk about furniture being built for the fort as busy work done by German prisoners during WWII.
Staff are extremely knowledgeable and this is a wonderful place to visit, rain or shine.
